Following the highly successful inaugural 2026 Winter Warmer midweek cruise we are pleased to make a return in 2027. It was so warm during the day last March it was thought appropriate to change the Sailex name this time. The photographs here are all from the Winter Warmer 2026.
The sailex will take advantage of the freedom (and low season pricing) that an almost deserted Solent area midweek prior to Easter. Overnighting on board on Sunday 14th March means we can make full use of the sailing time available in the days after until handback at 17-00 on Friday 19th March.
In familiar waters we will familiarize ourselves with the yacht, its features, characteristics and systems. We will take
more time and care than usual in everything we do. We will rotate roles and responsibilities, including Skipper if required for any budding Coastal Yachtmasters.
It will be a great opportunity to share knowledge, hone skills, and practice exercises and drills. In the process we are likely to just concentrate on short hop day sailing within the Solent from the River Hamble to the Needles/Lymington/Yarmouth in the West to Bembridge/Hayling in the East. The preference will be to passage plan in
the morning and sail to best advantage considering the weather conditions and tides at all times. There will be no urgency to get anywhere in particular apart from where the wind and tide takes us.
To keep costs reasonable we will be eating on board in the main with one evening meal planned ashore on the last evening. Other food on board, berthing, fuel
and security deposit costs are extras to be shared as per the T.O.G. terms and conditions of booking.
We have initially chartered one Beneteau Oceanis 37 from Fairview Sailing and plan to sail this with a crew of five. This is likely to be quickly fully booked by those expressing earlier interest. That includes everyone who enjoyed the cruise last year. We are planning a crew of five, with a berth fee of £280. The booking deposit will be £100 and the final payment due on 3rd January will be £180.
If oversubscribed additional yachts are available and can be chartered subject to enough firm interest. So please book up and join the waiting list if initially thwarted, this will build that potential second crew to sail in company.
