RYA Sea Survival and ISAF Offshore Safety Course (SECOND DATE OPTION)

A Sea Survival and ISAF Offshore Safety Course (Group 1) has been arranged for member participation on one of two weekends, the first at the end of February optionally a  second date  mid March 2015.   Members can book the course on either weekend to fit in with your plans.   Because this is a Fastnet year these courses will book up quickly now that the dates have been published.

VENUE - The County Hotel, Birmingham Road, Walsall, West Midlands, WS1 2NG

COST - Combined Sea Survival and ISAF Offshore Safety Course £185.00 per person.    Taken individually the Sea Survival  Course would be £125.00 and the Offshore Safety Course would be £100.00 per person.


RYA Sea Survival Course - Start Saturday at 09:30 hours.    The pool session will take place from 16:00 hours to 18:00 hours and be the conclusion of the days activities.   You will need to wear oilskins / waterproofs with a swimming costume.  Please ensure that your wet weather gear is clean and the pockets empty.  You are welcome to use your own lifejacket or alternatively one can be loaned FOC for the event.  Most students go barefoot for the pool session.   Wet weather gear can be hired for the day for £20.00 per person although there is limited availability.

RYA ISAF Offshore Safety Course - Start Sunday 09:00 hours to 16:30 hours.   This course will be held mainly indoors, but a couple of sessions will take place out side so please bring some suitable clothing.    Also during the day you will be doing some practical exercises that will include some floor work.

REFRESHMENTS - Tea, coffee and water will be provided on both days. Please bring along a packed lunch.

CONCLUSION - At the conclusion of the weekend participants will be presented with the RYA Basic Sea Survival Certificate and the ISAF/RYA Offshore Safety Course Certificate.  Together they satisfy the training requirements of ISAF Offshore Special Regulation 6.01 for category 0, 1 and category 2 offshore races.  It is suitable for skippers and crew of yachts wishing to take part in the Rolex Fastnet Race.
